We all love a good summer glow, but UV rays and lasers have a complicated relationship.
If you want safe, flawless results, you have to time your sun exposure perfectly.
At RS Laser, we customize your treatment using two powerhouse technologies: Deka and Candela.
The sun rules for each are completely different. Here is exactly how long you need to stay in the shade and why.
The Deka Laser: 3 Days Out
- The Timeline: Avoid direct sun 3 days before and 3 days after.
- The Why: Deka's technology is built for speed and precision. Its energy pulse skips the skin's surface and dives straight
for the hair root. Because it doesn't over-heat the surrounding tissue, your skin barrier stays strong and recovers fast.
Just 72 hours of SPF and shade, and you're good to go.
The Candela Laser: 14 Days Out
- The Timeline: Avoid direct sun 14 days before and 14 days after.
- The Why: Candela is an absolute industry powerhouse (and it is famously safe and effective for darker skin tones!).
But here is the catch: it works by hunting down melanin. When you get a fresh suntan, your skin floods with new melanin.
If we treat you too soon, the laser gets confused between the fresh pigment on your skin and the pigment in your hair,
leading to a high risk of burns. Waiting two full weeks lets your skin stabilize for the safest, most effective session possible.
We target real hair for real results (no peach fuzz here!), and your safety is our priority.
Whether you are on the 3-day or 14-day track, prepping your skin correctly is the secret to a perfect laser journey.
